" YOU CAN"

One big belief as a human being and working as a SECA with children is that I believe that we all need to be empowered with motivation. It feels very nice when someone gives you an encouraging comment.  We all are so busy meeting deadlines and working hard to accomplish goals that at times we become blind to see how good we are in some areas. We are very aware when we are doing something wrong or simply, we just can’t do it.

This is how I see children, they need that one or two-word motivational words to start their morning right.  We must understand that some of these Children already come with so much negativity in their minds and by the time they reached the school their thoughts all over the place. Some of these causes are either because they got yelled because they wouldn’t get up or because they would not hurry up for school, or they were late and missed breakfast. So many factors may have taken place from the moment they woke up to the time they arrive at school happen from the time they wake up to the time they arrive.

I believe is good to encourage them first thing in the morning. As future educators you will be able to know what motivates them, maybe just something as simple as that dress is beautiful, my day just became sunny seeing you, someone is on fired to learn, etc. Other might just to be reminded how virtuous their strengths are.  Some students might be enthusiastic to learn, but many learn their instructor or that adult to inspire, challenge and stimulate them. The child level of motivation that he will bring into the class will transform for better or worse, it all up to the adult to maintain that child interested.

Motivating student to learn is one of the most challenging tasks educators face today. If you don’t keep them motivated, they won’t retain information, they won’t participate and may end up being disruptive, absentees, continuing struggles, unsatisfaction with school, obtain low self.  Start early in the morning to motivate students and you will see how they start learning effectively. So, engage those children and find subjects of interest and then we can see the result of these chide being effective all day. Motivation will not only help the student start in the right position but also reach his/her potential.  It a way of helping them to find their motivation and keep it and find in within life.

  1. I agree with everything you have said about the importance of motivating a child! It is so important to encourage children to learn so that they will have the motivation to learn. Mornings can be rough and some days nothing seems to go right in the morning. Having encouraging words to your students first thing in the morning can help turn their day around. With classrooms so large these days, how do you plan on motivating an entire class as a whole?

  2. So true, classes are growing. I would probably focus on those who I would notice need it more. You sometimes even on we are all good one day, but there maybe one day of the week that we need that encouragement. So, I would play it by ear, and go from there. Great question you made me think, since I am use to small groups.
